Training Updates
New 2005 Guidelines / "Get Plugged In"
In December of last year and again in January 2006 we sent out a notice, via email and phone calls, to inform instructors of the upcoming guideline changes to the CPR/AED and First Aid program. Well the day for the release of the NEW 2005 Guidelines has arrived.
As of today, March 31, 2006, instructors can purchase updated materials such as Instructor Manuals, participant’s books, skills cards and DVDs for the new program from your local American Red Cross of Central Florida Chapter (Bumby Office).
These new materials and pricing can be obtained one of three ways:
• Local website (http://centralflorida.redcross.org)
• Calling the Central Florida Chapter at 407-894-4141 (Training and Business Development Dept.)
• Come to the American Red Cross of Central Florida Chapter (5 N. Brumby Ave./ Orlando, FL 32803)
Important Info:
• All CPR/AED and First Aid Instructors should complete the update by September 2006.
• On December 31, 2006 if you have not yet updated to the new 2005 guidelines your CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor certificate will expire regardless of the current expiration date printed on it and will cause you to have to retake the entire instructor’s training course.
• Once you have taken the new update, whether online, CD-Rom or group session, you should no longer be teaching the old program but the new updated one instead.
• If you have not yet signed on to the newly created “Instructor’s Corner” website you are missing out on an abundance of vital information and resources. Many of your questions to this new program can be answered through the Instructor’s Corner so I urge that you get plugged in today to keep informed and in the loop of all the latest and up to date changes. (http://www.instructorscorner.org/ )
• Please keep in mind that the above instructor’s website keeps you informed with up to date changes and information on a National level. However, it is equally important to continue to stay in tuned with your Central Florida Chapter for local events, changes and information as well. (http://centralflorida.redcross.org)
